Recently Microsoft Live labs introduced cool app called Photosynth. Microsoft says that this app brings in new technology which will forever change the way people think about digital photos.

Photosynth is currently supported as an addon for Mozilla Firefox and Internet explorer.Another requirement is a good graphic subsystem installed for all the graphic shine. So if you have an older graphic card on your pc like the Intel’s 8xx series then Photosynth will not work. The application is free to boot and has an inbuilt image gallery to view some cool stuff.

Here is a screenshot of Photosynth in action:

Here are some notable features of Photosynth :

Occupies less memory – You must have an active Xcontrol in the system (about 5mb) for Photosynth to run. It doesn’t occupy large disk space.

Awesome Zooming capacity - Perhaps the best feature of the Photosynth, whether the image is megapixels or gigapixels in size you can zoom in and out without any hesitation whatsoever.

Navigate in 3D model – Photosynth provides easy controls for exploring large collection of photos in 3D with a simple click of the mouse button.

Web application - Photosynth can help you connect your photos to the tubes we call the Internet, allowing you to browse a virtual universe of interconnected scenes that constantly evolves and changes over time.

Microsoft Live Labs says their are plenty of other features as well which are to be explored, but i suggest you try out Photosynth Now!

If you are planning to purchase yourself a Flickr Pro Account, then this is the right time to do so. Well if you are wondering how, Flickr has a deal running for the month of January wherein if you purchase a Gift Account, 3 Extra free months are credited to your Flickr Account. Which means you get 15months of Flickr Pro Account for just 24.95$, not a bad deal isn’t it?

Well here is how it works..

Go to the Flickr gift site.

Purchase a 12 month gift subscription which will cost your $24.95 ( but this gift is for you, my friend)

Once you are done with that, you’ll get a gift code, redeem it here.

After the purchase has been made, three free months will be added to your account.

Well, guys you better hurry up, because this super deal closes on the 31st of this month. The benefits of a Pro include, Ad Free browsing, Unlimited Storage, and Unlimited Photo sets. Well on a personal note, I’m planning to buy myself a Smugmug account rather than a Flickr Pro account.

So I suggest you have a look at Smugmug too. Its a lot better than Flickr in my opinion.

Do you have old photographs that you took long time back when you were on a vacation. Have a look at them now, don’t they look Pixelated and I guess they are at low resolutions. try resizing them, and you will see that they look even more horrible than they were before.

Well worry no more because Folks from Stanford university have the solution. A free website called VectorMagic takes your raster images and turns them into smooth vector drawings.

If you are wondering what the difference between the two really is.. Well, Raster Images are the images that we use almost everyday and they can’t be resized without losing quality, whereas when it comes to Vector images, they can be resized to virtually anything without any loss in quality.

There are other software that do the same job, but they come at a price, and the simple Online option to process your images looks compelling enough. VectorMagic‘s algorithms do an amazing job of translating photographs into realistic vectors — something other software choke on.

So have your images processed over at VectorMagic and give your photos a fresh lease of life, and enlarge them to your heart’s wish and take some nice glossy prints of them.

Visit VectorMagic
