Google has just launched the Indian version of Youtube, which is good news for Indians not only in India but worldwide. Viewing videos online is fast catching up here in India with the growing penetration of Broadband. By offering localized content on Youtube Google has taken one more step to dominate the yet untapped internet video market in India.

Youtube India features all the content from the global Youtube as well, but the difference between the two begins in popularity charts etc.. The top video charts on Youtube India will reflect what Indians are watching now, the featured videos are programmed to cater to an Indian audience, and Google has also signed up local partners to distribute their content through YouTube.

Check out this funny YouTube India promotional video:

I was pleasantly surprised this evening when I received an email from PayPal that said :

Now you can add your Indian bank account to your PayPal account, so you can withdraw your money directly to your bank. It saves you time and gives you faster access to your PayPal funds! Plus, there is no charge to withdrawal amounts over INR 7000. So, go ahead and add your bank account today!

Which means that I don’t have to wait for a month for PayPal to send me a check and then for me to encash it. This is one thing that I have been wanting PayPal to do for ages.

Those of you having bank accounts in State Bank of India, Bank of India, Canara Bank, Union Bank of India, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, ING VYSYA Bank, Axis Bank, Standard Chartered Bank, HSBC Bank and Citibank can opt for this feature to withdraw funds.

There are some things that you need to do before you can have your Bank receive payments from PayPal. First of all you need to have the details that you fill on the Bank Account information match your actual Bank Account info word by word or your payment won’t get through. Keep the Bank Account Number and IFSCI (Indian Financial System Code) handy before you add your Bank Account on this page.

I just have one more request to the PayPal team, and that would be to allow us to get verified by adding an Indian Bank Account. I am an unverified Paypal user, because I don’t have a credit card, so adding the Bank Account to get verified would be awesome for a lot of PayPal users all over India.

But even then, Many Thanks to PayPal for adding this new feature. More details on this program can be had from here.

Apple Inc is working very hard indeed to open new stores to match its growing popularity since the launch of the iPod and the iPhones. While new stores are being opened every day, this is not enough, so Apple is partnering with Retail partners to bring the Apple stores to places where they aren’t present as of now.

One such example is India, where Apple just concluded a deal with Reliance to launch its flagship Apple Store in over 10 locations countrywide. The deal was finalized on Monday and is the first retail partnership of Reliance with an International brand. The first of the Apple Stores will open by the end of October in bangalore, with ten more to open by the end of the year.

The first of the Apple stores will open in Bangalore, just before Diwali a local festival. The Apple store will be different from the already existing Apple stores, by selling only exclusive Apple Products. The Apple store will sell, Macs, iPods, and iPhone once it is released in India probably early next year. Besides selling Apple products the Stores would have Genius Bars (Customer Support), Theatre for presentations and seminars, A studio to help train people to use Macs.

I can’t wait for the Apple store to open in India, and I will definitely be paying a visit to it the next I visit Bangalore. I am wondering if Apple will be throwing out a Launch party at the store and giving away free goodies as it always does at a store launch.

I also believe that the New stores will launch on October 26th, the day everyone believes the next version of OS X Leopard will debut.

Well until then I keep my fingers crossed and wait for what Apple and Reliance come up with in Bangalore.

After only a week the iPhone was completely unlocked the iPhones have finally arrived in India. Fully Unlocked iPhones are available at the Rediff Online Store and Indiatimes Store. While this means iPhone will now be available in India, but as we all know Steve Jobs had said that Apple will eventually prevent unlock iPhones. The Next firmware upgrade is only a week away and a lot of new features are expected to be added into the iPhone.

Incase Apple is able to nullify the current hacks, then all the hardwork done so far goes waste. I would suggest you hold on for sometime from buying the Unlocked iPhone. Just keep praying the next firmware upgrade does not cripple the iPhone. The unlocked iPhone is not cheap by any means, it comes at a whopping price of 879$ (35,000 INR)

According to the resellers, the iPhone comes with the latest firmware 1.02. Rather than paying the double the amount for the iPhone here in India, I would rather get it from the US or UK and unlock it myself. But if you are ready to pay the money to be the first to get the iPhones go ahead and buy it from either Rediff or Indiatimes. Apparently the iPhone is expected to go on sale in India and other parts of Asia early next year.

[Via: CruchGear] Thanks for the tip, Sindhu
