I’m a big fan of GTD and keeping my life as organized and structured as possible. I Currently use a simple WhiteBoard at home with Sharpie Pens to jot down everything that I need to know. I use this method simply because the GTD apps like Remember the Milk, Things for Mac are an overkill for a guy like me, and to date didn’t really find a simple web based ToDo list.

Yesterday while browsing through my RSS Subscriptions I chanced upon TeuxDeux thanks to John Gruber(Daring Fireball) who described it as Clever, simple, date-based online to-do app. I immediately signed up and I’ve been hooked to it ever since.

As you can see from the Screenshot the interface of TeuxDeux is very clean, minimal and simple. Its the kind of UI that most of us normal users need, rather than the complex UI’s of other GTD apps.

The best thing that I like about TeuxDeux is the fact that it kinda resembles your personal diary, in which you jot down stuff you need to do.

How Does it Work?

To add a task, you just need to type into the textbox. It’ll be automatically be added to the todo list. To remove a task hover over the task and click the cross button. And the best thing, if you don’t complete a task today it will automatically be added to tomorrow’s tasks. Tasks can be drag dropped from different days, which makes it flexible.

The Days that are already past are in light faded Gray, while Today is in Red, and the future dates in the deep black. A simple but clever presentation idea.

Here’s a demo video that shows how TeuxDeux works :

So if you are finding it difficult to keep your life in order, and need to remember things to do, you must try out TeuxDeux.

Getting things done is a rage these days. I’ve been a long standing fan of Remember the Milk for managing my day to day activities. Recently I heard about Fruitful Time Manager and decided to try it out..

I’ve been using it for the past couple of days and suffice to say I’ve been more than impressed by it.. The most important thing is obviously the fact being a desktop software it is always there for you, but that itself is its biggest advantage for people always on the move and that’s where Remember the Milk tops Fruitful Time.

Nevertheless Fruitful is a beautiful piece of software and should be of great use to freelancers and other web workers working from home. Here’s a screenshot of Fruitful in action..

Here’s a rundown through its features :

Manage your to do list easily and quickly.

Create / edit / delete tasks.

Tasks can be split into smaller manageable subtasks like paying telephone bill can be split to paying landline bill and paying mobile phone bill.

Monitor the progress on each task / subtask.

Assigning tasks to different contacts.

Set the priority for each task.

Set up reminders for tasks

Assign tags to tasks

Password protect your tasks such that only you will be able to edit and view it.

Carry your task list with you anywhere if you install FruitfulTime TaskManager on a USB pen drive.

The absence of online access is more or less compensated by the ability to carry your task list on a USB pen drive, but still the online addition would have been really useful..

Here are a few screenshots of FruitfulTime in action. The Screenshots alone show the raw power of the software.. (Click on them for bigger versions)

FruitfulTime Task Manager is a good desktop solution to manage tasks, organise your life and increase your productivity. FruitfulTime Task Manager is currently available for Windows 2000, XP and Vista and requires Microsoft .Net Framework 2.0.

FruitfulTime Task Manager comes in two flavors :

Version 1.0- Free for Home and Non-Commercial Use- Download Free Version

Version 2.0- Improved features than 1.0 , Price $29.99- Download Trial Version

Which apps do you all use to enhance your productivity ?

Ever since David Allen’s book on GTD (Getting things done) became extremely popular we have seen some of the best GTD Apps. We have seen desktop apps and web apps.. But one thing that caught my eye today was Things from Cultured Code. Things is a really beautiful app that helps you in getting things done even more easily than ever before and with its elegance and simplicity Things looks very promising to me.

Here is a litle bit of sneak peak into Things

Things is an ambitious project to create the easiest and most fun to use personal To-Do management application. Simplicity, however, will not be achieved at the expense of powerful features…

Well here are some of its features :

The big picture

A Leopard style source list lets you easily focus without ever switching view modes or wrapping your head around filter criteria.

A magical tag bar

It automatically appears when needed and adapts to the currently displayed list. It lets you drill down even the longest list of To-Dos. Hierarchical tags? We got you Covered!

Teamwork

Things offers convenient collaboration features. Easily delegate tasks by Mail, Bonjour or Chat to members of your team.

Look Ma, no columns!

Whether it’s multiple tags, dates or notes, To-Do items display their information on an as needed basis. No more space wasted by empty or irrelevant column cells!

Things also uses Open XML so it doesn’t lock you into it. It always gives access to third party apps to access your apps so that they can communicate with things. The XML can also be viewed with any modern browser with all its styles intact.

Things is still in a preview mode so signup for its newsletter to know about it as soon as it comes out.
