Flickr to map the world’s latest photo hotspots

My favorite online photo service Flickr seems to get better with every other passing day. Its nice to see Yahoo continuing with development of Flickr. Flickr yesterday announced a new feature dubbed Places that aims to help you in Finding photos taken at a particular place. This new feature will allow you to use Flickr Places to explore places you’ve never been to.

Flickr has handpicked over 10,000 places worldwide to showcase photos that were shot over there. Flickr will also provide other information like Maps, Weather and Time at that particular location. Say you want to see all photos that were shot in Bangalore, all you need to do is visit the Bangalore Places page to see all the photos that were shot in Bangalore.

Here are a few screenshots that show Places in action :

Flickr to get Online Photo Editing Tools

logo_homeAccording to Techcrunch Flickr will very soon be getting basic photo editing tools from Picnk, that happens to be one of the most popular sites that edit photos. This when implemented would mean that Flickr users get a host of ways to edit their photos. picnik-logo Picknik on Flickr would mean, I can edit photos using the powerful Picnik photo editor and edit my photos. Flickr Users can do more than just rotating their photos on a new Flickr photo editor which includes Picnik’s flash based photo editor. After editing, users can either add it as a new photo to their album or overwrite the existing photo (pro users only). The integration is expected to finish in the next few months.
