Harvard Working on Tribler the Nxt Gen Filesharing Client

Yes Yes Harvard is working with the Tribler Team to make the Next generation Filesharing Client. Conventional Bit-torrent client have had a deficiency that makes the mantra of equal sharing a mess. Very often you will find the torrent heavily leeched and you will not be able to download it. Tribler aims to put an end to all this with some major improves that we have been waiting for many years now.

Tribler works on the Give to Get algorithm rather than the Tit for Tat algorithms Bittorrent has been using for many years now. It allows the users to benefit from faster download speeds without actually using a central servers or trackers as Bittorrent users would know.

You can access Tribler to download conventional Bittorrent files as well as files that use this new concept. Every Tribler Client keeps a track of how many MB’s you have uploaded or shared which inturn is used to determine the speeds at which you get to download.

If Tribler can achieve all these things it is going to make a headway into the future. There are some issues like Network Pollution and Spam that need to be addressed. But then there is definitely a ray of bright light shining in the File Sharing phenomenon.

An Added advantage is that Tribler might be free from Lawsuits as there would be no central server involved, so the MPAA or RIAA might have to sue millions of file sharers. I am just hoping that Tribler becomes a Success.

Undelete : Get Back those Deleted Files

I am sure everyone one of you at one point or the other has lost some very important files either due to accidental deletion or overwriting, or there are situations where you delete a key system file and there is no way to recover it because system files normally bypass the Recycle bin when they are deleted. You might have lost some very important data and you think there is no way to get it back. Well there is a way and that is Undelete 5

Undelete 5 protects the files that the Windows recycle bin and files that windows backup systems miss:

Earlier versions of Microsoft Office files
Files too large to fit in the recycle bin
Files created and deleted by certain applications

Windows Live Folders Coming Soon

Microsoft is now entering the file sharing platform with the upcoming Windows Live Folders. The homepage looks interesting, right now its in a private beta, so I couldn’t really register and see for myself what exactly was on offer at Live Folders.

Here are some features of Windows Live Folders

Personal

Use personal folders to back up important files that are only for you.
Get to your files from any computer with Internet access by signing in with your Windows Live ID.

Shared

Shared folders make it easy to collaborate with coworkers or classmates.
You decide how much control each person has over each shared folder. Some can just read what’s there: others can add and delete files.
Everyone who is sharing uses their own Windows Live ID.

Public

With public folders, anyone on the Internet can view your files, but they can’t change them.
Want to show your public files to others? Just send them a link! Each folder and file has its own web address.
