Feeburner, the leading Syndication Engine for just about most of the blogs on this planet, has pulled out one small but very useful feature from its statistics. Feedburner which was acquired by Google late last year has not yet come up with an explanation as to why the All Time Stats option was removed.

But as of now, the data of the past is still preserved and there are workarounds for you to get it. But Still it isn’t nice on the part of Feedburner to remove this useful option overnight without anyone having a clue about it. If you remember when Feedburner was acquired last year, Google had made all the pro services free, saying that they would pay the bill.

Google also promised new innovations and features and said the Feedburner would continue to grow. In contrast the Feedburner blog has not been updated since November 2007. Does this mean that Feedburner is also becoming like Google’s other acquired properties that have stopped innovating after coming under the hood of Google? I hope Not.

What’s the big deal you might ask? Well a lot of Bloggers have had their feeds hosted on Feedburner for a pretty long time, and with this option removed we no longer have access to the historical data. This means we can no longer map our growth trends over a period of time, we can no longer tell our advertisers about the growth rate of our blogs, we can no longer see when our feeds reached specific milestones.

Now please Google listen to us, and get this feature back. By removing this you gain nothing other than a little bit of more of storage space, bandwidth and CPU cycles. Come on Google, you aren’t all that cheap right?

While Google remains silent on this issue, here are a few workarounds you can use to access the all time data.

Workaround #1 : URL Hack

Login to your Feedburner Account and Note down the Feed id (XXXXXXX).

Now to see you all time Subscriber stats visit : http://www.feedburner.com/fb/a/subscribers?dateRangeName=all&id=XXXXXXX

To see your Item Usage Visit : http://www.feedburner.com/fb/a/items?dateRangeName=all&id=XXXXXXX

To see your Uncommon uses visit : http://www.feedburner.com/fb/a/uncommonuses?dateRangeName=all&id=XXXXXXX

Replace the XXXXXXX with the Feed id that you noted down in the first step.

Workaround #2 : CSV/Excel Hack

Login to your Feedburner account..

On the Navigation Column you will see an export option.

Select either Excel or CSV and download the data.

Use your favorite spreadsheet tool to graph the data.

I suggest you download the data and keep it with you, incase Feedburner decides to remove all the historical data. What do you think of this move from Feedburner? Is Feedburner also suffering the same fate as other Google properties?

If you are a WordPress.com blogger, then you have many reasons to rejoice this festive season, and the feeds on WordPress.com have received a major upgrade. And Ofcourse that latest addition from Automattic is Enhanced Feeds that has for long been associated with Feedburner. Read on to find out what these Enhanced Feeds really are,

Up until now your feed has been fairly basic. All you got in most aggregators was the post title and the content. Simple to navigate and read, but it left you with so many questions. How do I add this post to del.icio.us? How do I Digg it and has it been Dugg already? I wonder how many comments have been left?

Wonder no longer. Today, your WordPress.com feed can be supercharged with the following fine feed widgets:

1. Comment Count
2. Categories
3. Tags
4. “Add to Del.icio.us” link
5. “Digg it!” link
6. “Stumble it!” link

Comment Count is turned on by default but you can switch all the features on or off as you please.

This is a great addition to WordPress.com for sure, as there are loads of Bloggers on WordPress who’ll benefit from this addition. Hopefully this new feature will increase the interaction with the feeds on WordPress… Have a look at the WordPress.com blog for more details.

Google Reader by default allows you to share items that you mark as shared while reading your feeds. But I don’t use the share feed feature but instead I star the items that I like. I was always looking for a way to share the Starred items in Google Reader, but thanks to Tech Recipes I found a simple way of sharing my Starred feed items. If you want to do the same, then read on..

Sharing the starred items isn’t that difficult, the only problem is that the option is quite hidden so we need to search for it. Follow the instructions below to share your Starred items in Google Reader.

From Google Reader, click the Settings Link in the upper right hand corner.

Click the Tags tab.

Click the Private link beside your starred items.

The text will change to public and links will appear that allow you to share your starred items feed link.

Well that is it. I hope that this simple tutorial was helpful to you..

Google Reader, one of the best RSS Readers out there in the market today. While Bloglines only recently updated itself to a beta that actually manages to stack up pretty well to GReader. While Google Reader was missing some basic features like Search but with the latest additions we now have a Search Option at the top center of Google Reader.

Along with the Search option that also features infinite scrolling to see those thousands of results, Google Reader also has a wide pane option that gives you more reading space than the conventional layout of Google Reader by removing the sidebar in the left.

Here are some screenshots that I took from my Google Reader Screen :

With all these new stuff that is Being added to reader all the time, I can tell for sure that Google is heading in the Right direction with Google Reader.
