Well you might think that a DVD is just a DVD, but it isn’t so, the Hollywood studios have come up with protection schemes to make sure that DVD’s that you buy in India for cheap don’t play in the United States. Well this is done through region protection, all DVD’s come locked to a particular region when you buy them. Well here are the regions that the Hollywood studios have come up with :
- REGION 1 — USA, Canada
- REGION 2 — Japan, Europe, South Africa, Middle East, Greenland
- REGION 3 — S.Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and parts of Southeast Asia
- REGION 4 — Australia, New Zealand, Latin America
- REGION 5 — Eastern Europe, Russia, India, Africa
- REGION 6 — China
