Windows Update Brings Thousand’s of PC’s to a Standstill
The latest series of Windows Updates have wrecked thousand’s of PC’s worldwide bringing them to a standstill. A lot of server administrators are furious over Microsoft for doing this and preventing the job from being done for the companies meaning higher expenses for them. Well this time around Microsoft decided to automatically install a resource hungry application called Window’s Desktop Search on computers worldwide. This slowed down corporate networks bringing the network to a standstill. What is more important is that all this happened even though administrators had configured their systems not to use the search tool.
"The admins at my place were in a flap this morning because Windows Desktop Search 3.01 had suddenly started installing itself on desktops throughout the company," says a reader by the name of Rob. "The trouble is that once installed, the indexer kicks in and slows the machines down."
