Google Launches Amazon Web Services Competitor

google_appengineAmazon has for long won the hearts of developers worldwide with its amazing services in Amazon S3, SimpleDB and EC2. Google finally has a noteworthy competitor up its sleeves to give Amazon some shakes. Google has just launched a preview release of Google App Engine. Here’s what Google has to say about the App Engine :

Google App Engine lets you run your web applications on Google’s infrastructure. App Engine applications are easy to build, easy to maintain, and easy to scale as your traffic and data storage needs grow. With App Engine, there are no servers to maintain: You just upload your application, and it’s ready to serve your users.

Unlike Amazon’s offerings, the App Engine is one closely knit service providing all the functionality that Amazon provides in its trio of S3, SimpleDB, EC2 in one simple unified package.

I am sure you have all heard of Flickr, Amazon, eBay etc. These sites are extremely famous in their own niche but they do have limitations. What if you wanted to search the vast repository of data stored on these services. If you are a Flickr Addict like me then look no further than FlickrStorm. FlickrStorm is an enhanced version of the Flickr Search engine that allows us to do more with the search results than the standard Flickr Search Engine.
