There are times when you might want to search for the latest news on Google but the search results aren’t usually the latest. Google’s Advanced Search gives you more power than you can possibly think and one of the best uses of the advanced search is searching for pages that have been recently indexed.

The trick here is the URL encoding which google does when you use the advance search. The parameter that specifies the date range is as_qdr(query date range). Using this parameter and the Bookmarking features of Firefox searching for the latest news will never be easier.

Here are the Steps that you need to follow to get things rolling :

• 1. Open the Firefox Bookmarks Manager and Create A New Bookmark
• 2. Edit its properties and fill up the details as shown in the screenshot
• 3. Enter the following into the location bar :
  http://www.google.com/search?as_q=%s&hl=en&num=50&as_qdr=w&safe=off
• Click Ok and exit from the Bookmarks Manager
