Kaspersky Labs Unveils Kaspersky 2009

My personal favorite Antivirus solution on Windows just got better. The Russian based Kaspersky Labs has just released the latest version of their Antivirus and Internet Security suite.

I’ve been a long time user of Kaspersky Internet Security and its the only antivirus solution that I recommend to all my friends. Kaspersky comes in two flavors one the stripped down version that has only the Antivirus and some other security features while the Internet Security package comes in with complete set of security features you’d ever need, which means you don’t need any other software to protect you online.

The most noticeable change in the new version has to be the UI. I just love the new UI. It is very intuitive and user friendly, and compared to the new design I feel that the old one was too cluttered and confusing, while it really wasn’t. Just how much a good design adds to a software!

Here are some screenshots of Kaspersky in action..

Follow this link to download Kaspersky. If you are already a Kaspersky I suggest you uninstall the previous version first since the new version brings about quite a bit of changes. Just make sure you save your licence key before you wipe off your old install.

And incase you aren’t already using Kaspersky, I suggest you give it a try. Trust me its one of the best security solutions you’ll find. If you like it, you can always purchase the licence key for only $39.95USD for Kaspersky Antivirus and $59.95 for Kaspersky Internet Security.

As an added bonus here’s a key that will you give you 6 months free trial courtesy Cyberhackz

Just as an addition. Make sure you read this web comic that explains what Kaspersky does..

I downloaded this yesterday and have been trying it since then. Its pretty light I must say. I was a KAV user for 3 years. But very recently switched to Avira Antivir as in the hostile environment of my college cybercafe and hostel even second best like KAV is not enough.

I’m using AVG. I don’t know why. I think it’s because it’s free. It’s seems that alsmost everything that scanns for virusses is free. What is the difference under the hood I ask. I think none.

The last picture shows updating..

Seems a little wack to me…

update progress: 1 %
Duration: 7 sec
avg speed: 1kb sec
update size: 1,4kb…

7×1 = 7kb.. how on earth can it be on 1% than..

must be some wierd reason for it ;o

Great anti virus software, I’ve had them for about a year with no problems, great service.

I use Avira. I always thought Kapersky was heavy on resources. Am I misinformed.

I think you should get the full version for one year free.

@Nirmal, thanks for the heads up. I’ve since removed the trial key in favor of one year commercial licence..

I like avast! Until I have a problem with it I’ll stick with it. If I was looking for a suite though I’d definitely consider Kaspersky.

I’ve been a KIS user since I was born. Just hope they get out of the beta stage so my KIS 8 won’t act stupid. All in all updates and scan works great. They just need to fix some minor problems that the previous versions dont have. I dont blame it right now because it is in the beta stage.

I have been using computers for years. I manage an office; security has become a subject I am at ease with. I have switched to Kaspersky last year for anti virus protection. I had tried it, used it, it did the job.

Now, with this 2009 version, things went bad. Very bad. Not one of my computers, running on XP, maintained and periodically cleaned up and reinstalled, not one of them took the upgrade smoothly. It went from slowing down the computer, to having go on a cycle of never ending rebooths. I tried to uninstall and revert back to the previous version, but to no avail. It haf damaged the operating system itself. Adding to this the arrogant attitude of their forum moderators and their systematically denying they have a major problem with their product, I would rate this software ZERO if I could here.

Very very very disappointed. I had finally to turn to another product to do the job – isn’t it what we’re supposed to expect when WE PAY FOR IT? Kaspersky is lucky not to have an office in my area – I would sue them for damage due to loss of productivity. Beware of companies who make any third party software incompatible with theirs. You’re on for trouble using their products.

Kaspersky? Never, oh-never! again.

Jensol.

Hmm.. you = bad experience with 3 computers.
Others = postive experience with tens of thousands of computers.

Where do you think the fault lies?

to ME:

now I hope that is not how Kaspersky thinks. because if the company thinks the way you do, then Im sure Jensols experience, magnified to a a number of exponents would result to a considerable number of unhappy customers.

ive had similar problems with Kaspersky. I tried their trial version. the problem began when i uninstalled their antivirus. I cant browse with flash on. YM suddenly got some weird problems.

Im still trying to find a solution as i write thins

I’m using Kaspersky Internet Security 2009, but I don’t find it quite so user friendly. I was using Norton, and it did the job without any problem, but I didn’t think I’d like it because of the previous version I’d had on another computer. Well, now I have Kaspersky and I don’t know how adequate it really is. It always tells me that it’s obsolete because I haven’t been online in a day or so. Does that mean that I’m not protected until I’ve updated?
