June 9th, the day when Apple’s annual developer event WWDC will kick start. During the four day event Apple will be making quite a few announcements. There are some we know for sure, but some that still remain a point of speculation.
Every passing day the rumors continue to swirl, and every day is a new day in the Apple land. Well here are my predictions for this years WWDC with my guess as to what chances are there it might be true..
Here they are :
- 3G iPhone (99.99% Sure we’ll see Steve Jobs Unveil this on June 9th)
- 3G iPhone available from Apple Stores on June 9th (50%)
- App Store (50% Sure)
- Mac OSX 10.6 (20% Chances)
- Redesigned Macbooks and Macbook Pros (75% Chance)
Well what else do you expect to see this WWDC? Let us know in the comments..
The iPhone is the sure to be the center of attraction. Rumors say that the new iPhone is expected to have support for GPS technology. News.com has a good point , “the combination of GPS and faster networking speeds should allow for a whole range of location-aware applications to proliferate on the iPhone, as they have on other competing phones.”
I’ll be all over Apple Centric blogs on June 9th trying to the get the latest information as WWDC progresses. June 9th to 13th are going to interesting days.
WWDC is scheduled to start 10:00 A.M. (PST).. Can’t wait any longer to see the latest Apple goodies. Bring ‘em on Apple..

My bet is that we are going to see more of Apple’s touch screen technology; perhaps a tablet based Mac Book? I also think that we may see Apple’s take at the Eee PC. One other thing that crossed my mind was that we may not see a 3G iPhone, but a true Apple Smartphone running Mac OSX. Just some thoughts

@Mike, A Tablet based Macbook would be too cool, but I believe its too early in the game for such a product I believe.
@Firefox, Probably DailyApps will also have a pretty good coverage of the WWDC ‘08..

Redesigned Macbooks and Macbook Pros (75% Chance)
I don’t agree on the 75% chance you’re giving them. Too much. They have been updated just a while ago. Not gonna happen.
The Macbooks will be updated around September. I don’t know about the Pro’s. So say the rumor sites.
@Firefox, that was funny.

@Lucky, The Macbook pro’s have maintained their design form since a very long time.. So I’d expect them to have a major redesign this WWDC in the lines of Macbook AIR..
About the Macbooks, expect Apple to dump plastic in favor of Aluminum.

I totally agree with what you’re saying. I’ve been saving money for a Macbook, but I am waiting for the redesign. I never liked the MacBook Pro keyboard.
I just don’t believe it happening next week. Macbook Guide
It’s been just 90 days since they were updated. The average is 190 days.
I’d love it to happen now, but I have to be realistic.

@Lucky, yes you have got your observations spot on. But the designs are a bit outdated at the moment, and WWDC is the best time to release to show the new ones.
Expect Steve Jobs to line up quite a few surprises for all of us..

I liked the older WWDC presentations more. All things really where a suprise. The effect of One more Thing is not the same it used to be.

@Firefox, I can’t agree more with you on this. Over the years the surprises have come down, because of the kind of interest in Apple products.
Where else will you find bloggers/journalists trying as hard as possible to find out what the next Apple product will be?
With all this in place, no surprise is a big surprise

true Karthik. The only suprise would be if they announced to make there own car. We can expect an apple interface for BMW though. (I’ll be laughing when anything appears about a car).

@Firefox, Mike, I was following the keynote live too via UStream and overall I’m quite disappointed with the keynote..
More in the coming post..
Cheers!!

Told ya
I’m actually quite pleased with the keynote! It was great because I was realistic and I didn’t listen to all the rumors.
You should try that.

I wasn’t suprised at all. The only thing that made me say :”wow” was the price cut. That is the best thing Apple could do. No one can beat that priceç
Jun 10th, 2008
Karthik Kastury
@Firefox, yeah really the price is real cheap. But Apple is playing smart here. By locking you into a contract over a two year period, you end up paying more..
