   FF3 seems to crash allot due to the addons. If u disable all your custom addons it will run perfect.. But thats not what we want, the great thing about FF is the use of plugins..

   So i hope they will start focusing on some more important things…

   There has been a change that may influence your testing.
   The security policy around handling of local files changed:

   http://kb.mozillazine.org/Security.fileuri.strict_origin_policy
   https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=425201

   If you are testing pages via the file system (file://) ,you will have to change the value of this pref:

   security.fileuri.strict_origin_policy

   to false.

   You can do this by typing about:config in the URL bar of the browser. This will allow you to adjust your preferences.
   When you find the pref, double clicking it will toggle it to false.

   I had to find that out the hard way >__< WORK DAMIT GAY BROWSER…

   Here it only crashes when I have Kaspersky 9 installed. Seems some sort of compatibility bug…

   Although it would be even nicer if they used Aero in the Vista version
   And a standard “New Tab”-button would be better to get more, unexperienced, people to know about the tab function.

   Doesn’t it show on the first load that you can make tabs? + A constant apperance of such a tab would mean 20 pixels loss of visible website. I wouldn’t like that.

   @Asgaro, So far Firefox 3 has crashed on me so far over half a dozen times. I’ve sent the details from the crash report over to Mozilla.

   And most of the crashes seem to be greasemonkey related for me, since almost everytime it happens when I’m in gmail or google reader and using better gmail etc..

   @Firefox, I do feel that a new tab button would be beneficial to many users. There are many times when its easier to click a mouse button rather than press CTRL+T.

   I will be waiting for a quick 3.0.1 release that fixes most of the bugs that users have been experiencing in the wild since Firefox 3 came out…

    Hi,

    With respect to the “New Tab” button, i do see that in customize option for the toolbars, it is present. Maybe you can use it and place it wherever you prefer and still saving screen space.

    I have a few such buttons on the Bookmarks Toolbar.

    This is weird : the counter already points out 7,5 MILLION downloads ! That is some download ratio. Now I do not know how many people are dowlnoading this for the first time but dont you think the IE or Safari Userbase will shrink?

    @Karthik, you can just double click the tab bar, you have always had that option to make a new tab, a new tab button is pointless unless you do not have the tab bar always up.

    i HATE the way FF3 looks. has anyone found any skins to make it look like FF2? also, i really want the menu bar gone, my addon for it doesn’t work in FF3

    I have some problems with FF3. It conflicts with my language input method: Unikey, so that I can not type in by using keyboard. Only when I close FF, the problem is resolved.

    hm, firefox is making the opera download very very slow. 2kbps, where it will load any other page or downloads at my normals speeds. weird.

    also, does anyone else think FF3 is slower than FF2?

    I had no problems, but by reviewing most of what was new that the user would notice I was struck by how Opera like Firefox 3 is. That is not a bad thing, but I am always struck how exited when our favourite software (Opera is my browser of choice and Fx is secondary one) gets great new features that a competator has had for a long time.

    I look at some people demoing features of Fx 3 and with 1 or two exceptions I have been using all these features in Opera so I was thinking ’so… thats not new… damnit just use Opera.” Then I remembered the design Ideas that Opera has ‘borrowed’ from Fx over the years that I was excited for because I could now do it in my browser! (I only wish that they would come up with some sort of Add-On architecture too, maybe as a module or plug in).

    If you enjoy Firefox 3 then I suggest you try some of the plugins modeled after Opera Functionalities, and use Opera as you secondary browser instead of IE.

    After all in the long run, aren’t we both trying to do the same things in the browser world… standards, security, speed and stability, and building a community of fellow users?

    It’s because I simply hate to surf without my favorite add-ons and one specific FF add-on - Adblock Plus - that I always use Firefox.

    (But apart from that I would still be using Firefox, because of the nice UI and the awesomeness factor and such :p )

    @Asgaro: Personally scince even many Firefox users use it sans Add-Ons, I think that that is not the only factor. As I have mentioned many of the features in Firefox and its Add-ons were pioneered in Opera. It has also been largely Faster and more stable with all of its features in a smaller install than basic Firefox. So why not get more adopters? Every reason I have seen put together still doesn’t pan out why it hasn’t grown faster.

    I think it is image.

    In Europe, where Opera Software ASA is based tastes, culture, and points of view can be very diffrent from North America (or the rest of the world for that matter). You say Opera to many Europeans and you get this image of grandure, class, art, and history. You ask most North Americans about what comes to mind and you usually get negative conotations; old, stuffy, boring, fat people singing, and music in languages you don’t understand. Ooooh, doesn’t that sound cool?

    Internet Explorer, Firefox, Navigator, Konqueror, and even Flock have good strong sounding names, but Opera is like the Canadian Beaver compaired to Russia’s Bear, England’s Bulldog, and the American Eagle. Not bad, just not as strong sounding. ( I am Canadian,,, I can say this without being insulting)

    Even their merchandising falls flat over here. They just don’t get that that helps make your community grow. The Opera Community was trying to get a Spread Firefox like movement going before the Fx Community did, but it kept being undermined by Opera’s own promotions. I am begining to think that if I ever want to see one, I have to make it myself.

    as for all the problems all you Firefox Users are having, I am ironically not getting any of them with 3. Then again I only had 2 memory leaks with my Firefox 2 and I had almost 20 Addons installed. Hope you guys have better luck.

    Actually as a web designer (and I am assuming you are on the mac because the windows builds of Safari are really problematic and below their usual quality in my albiet limited expirience) you really should be also using Firefox and Opera for testing standards compliance and any browser specific tweaks that you may do. Often as an Opera user I find out many of the misdisplaying pages are ones not rendering properly because of badly specified tweaks for IE and Firefox, and I know some tweaks for Opera the last builds of Firefox 2 REALLY didn’t like.

    Unfortunately nomatter what you do there is no test like running a document through a browser from a server to see its true compatability. Even though Opera and Firefox both want and push hard for the W3C web standards, niether can render 100% all the time.

    I didn’t i wasn’t debugging on those browsers. I just quit using them and main development platform.

    Because of small simple fact of life: They suck.

    When everything works fine on safari, ill just test all other browsers from IE 6 to safari 2.0.4, and all linux versions :).

    So i doubt u will ever find an error in one of my pages
