Apps is a reason to get the 3G iPhone? That’s strange because all the gen 1 iPhones can upgrade to get it too. GPS? There is already assisted location in gen 1 iPhones. Price? Are you stupid? It requires a 2 year contract, and with the data rates it increases the price over 2 years to more than the original iPhone, and you don’t even get a dock…. go look up something else because you’re a terrible writer.

@Mike, Apple makes more from the iPhone in the long term, while the iPod Touch is a one time sale.

@Firefox, Yeah the unsubsidized phones could you cost atleast 400$ more than the sale price of the 3G models.

@Steve, Yeah that is a clever idea by Apple and AT&T. By reducing the initial cost and getting users to sign the contract, AT&T and Apple stand to make more money in the long run, while cutting down on the unlockers at the same time..

Regarding price, iPhone 2.0 owners will now pay $10 more per month for web data. Over time the new iPhone will actually cost you more. I’m not saying it’s not worth it, but it’s something to keep in mind.

I am a Verizon customer and I really would have liked to see a price cut on the iPod Touch. How is it that the iPhone is one hundred dollars cheaper and must surely be mcuh more expensive to produce?

I don’t think apple will mind the G3 thing. I find 3G way to expensive to use. But coverage is upt o 95% in Belgium I think. But still way to expensive…

The price factor is indeed a solid one, but then when it comes to countries like India where there is no contract system, I think it wont be the price of $199. Anyways lets wait and see.
