With the announcements made yesterday by Kevin Rose, regarding the changes in the Digg Algorithm another violent storm seems to be brewing up against the popular Social media site. The changes in the algorithm have apparently been made so that the newer users on Digg can promote their content easily, as opposed to the Top Users submissions that make it to the front page most of the time.
So far the top users have had large friend following that would blindly digg stories for them, but the new algorithm looks for diversity in the voting pattern. While this change would anger the top users, and maybe prompt them to leave Digg.
But has Digg got itself in the wrong position at the wrong time?
With most of the new users coming to Digg, realizing that promoting their content on Digg is not going to be easy with the Top Users chugging along, they are moving onto Mixx (looks like a future Digg), and with the announcement many of the Top users would be moving along too.
What does this leave Digg with?
That means that the spammers who are trying to game the system, would end up creating more fake accounts and be able to artificially inflate Digg’s inorder to make it to the front page. The Algorithm changes also mean that Top Users who were once Tigers have now become Cats who can just meow and do nothing else. This is good news for services like SubvertandProfit that have a large base of users in varied locations spread all over the world, trying to spam Digg, and with the Top Users now powerless, it means Digg is going to get a lot more spammier now.
Bottomline : The Changes to the algorithm don’t help new users in any way, they help established spam networks like Subvert to artificially promote content that otherwise is not frontpage material and also discourage top users to submit content.
Slowly as Digg starts to choke with its steadily declining Traffic, I can see the death of poster child of Web2.0 coming closer, unless Kevin Rose is able to pull out a Miracle, the days ahead are gonna be a rough ride for Digg, with users revolting, and more and more spammier content making it to the front.
Well its time for me to bid adieu to Digg. Well I’m burying Digg for good. Best wishes to Kevin!

I hope the top members DO freaking leave digg. They are a horrible cancer on the face of what could be a good news site with actual variety.
