Update : If you are looking for a guide to Dual Boot Windows Vista and Mac OSX Leopard, please follow this guide Hack Attack : Dual Boot Leopard and Windows Vista. The Dual Boot Guide is a comprehensive guide and it should work for most of you with a little bit of hard work.

Here is a complete guide to install Mac OSX Leopard 10.5.1 (9B18) on your PC, in just one step that is as easy as it could possibly get. Just pop in the DVD and you are good to go, running Leopard in no time, with all the 300+ features at your fingertips.

index_hero20071016Its been nearly two months, since I last  wrote my guide to Install Leopard on your PC in just 3 Steps. Well I wanted to write a better How-To that would answer many questions that people had from my previous How-To.

I am writing this guide for a novice user, who doesn’t know much about the various commands that went into my previous article. This is a one step process that almost anybody in this world would be able to follow.

Here are the basic requirements for you to proceed with the installation of Leopard  :

  • A Blank DVD-R to burn the ISO.
  • The ISO image to be downloaded from Mininova.

Before I tell you, how to install OSX I would like to tell you why this release by Uphuck and Eskurza is an important milestone in the OSX86 Project.

  • This is the first ever Leopard DVD to come out with the amazing PC-EFI built in. If you are wondering what PC-EFI is all about, then let me tell you something about it :

With the EFI patch, the hackintosh can boot off VANILLA UNMODIFIED OS X kernel and use  vanilla kexts, which gives a more clean room and great peace of mind for future system updates.

To Know more about PC-EFI visit the OSX86 Wiki

  • iATKOS (as this release is called) supports a variety of Hardware configurations, and many popular Graphic Cards, Network Cards are supported.

Now lets proceed with the installation of Leopard. Before that here are few conditions your CPU must satisfy to use this installation method..

  • Non Core Intel Processors, no PC-EFI for you.
  • Core Based Processors, for PC-EFI to work.
  • AMD processors are not supported at this time.

Ok now, lets proceed with the installation :

Step 1: Installing Leopard

  • Download the Installation ISO from Mininova. You can find it by performing a search for iATKOS v1.0i (Its about 2.09 GB).
  • Once you are done, with downloading burn the ISO at very slow speeds to the DVD.
  • Pop in the DVD and boot into it from BIOS and follow the Onscreen Instructions.
  • Select the Appropriate Packages, based on your hardware and then proceed.
  • Installation might take about an hour or so, so grab yourself a cup of coffee  while you install Leopard.

Step 2: That is all my, my Friend

  • Didn’t I say it was a one step installation process. Yes it really was.. Congratulations you’ve done it.

That’s it for now. I will be updating this post in the future, when the AMD patch is released. If you have any questions, please drop in a comment, or ask your questions in the Uphuck Forums.

A big thanks to Uphuck and Eskurza for this amazing release. A lot of credit for all this hardwork goes to them. And ofcourse to Netkas for the development of PC-EFI. Cheers!

Please seed for atleast a couple of days, once you have finished downloading. This will help other people to get this amazing release faster.

  • Hi all,

If you are trying to do this in VMWare and getting the Virtual Machine Failure heres what ya need to do/check...

Boot into your PC's BIOS and look for an option that will be something like "Enable Virtual Machine". You net to enable this in your BIOS for VMWare to run the supplied install.

    Hope that helps

Have any of you noticed NO ONE gets answers here? Try to use google and your brain to figure out problems. You cannot count on others to solve your problems forever. So many ignorant comments here. USE YOUR BRAIN AND READ INFORMATION.
    http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/Mai...
Furthermore, if you think this is too much to handle, DONT DO IT. Might save yourself from breaking something.

Hello I have made the disk i boot it and it starts loading the kernel an aplle logo flashes and then my pc restarts. Any help would be appreciated!
  • Nac
do not let it boot by itself, while booting press F8, type -v then ENTER, similarly when installation completes and yr system reboots, press F8, select the hard drive you created for yr mac, type -s then ENTER.......
  • mike
ok, i'm doing this on a toshiba laptop with dual intel processors...

i got the install all done, it starts up, no problem just like when you first get a mac out of the box...

so i get all those welcome messages when it first starts for the first 2 times i turned it on
but, after those it said there was no keyboard attached and mouse pad wouldn't respond either

i got an old usb mouse and keyboard and now i don't get the video to display anymore.. dosn't matter if i have the new keyboard and mouse plugged in or not.. same problem either way

it will display video all the way up until the welcome words would flash on.. i get the startup screen with the lizard, i get the white screen with apple symbol, then nothing now all i get is sound from there on
  • Leon Kruize (Dutch)
I can't find the iATKOS v1.0i on mininova. Would you send me another mirror to download it? The search results I found on Google weren't useful.
  • SWISSGUY

  • nac
same advice for you, do not let it boot by itself, while booting press F8, type -v then ENTER, similarly when installation completes and yr system reboots, press F8, select the hard drive you created for yr mac, type -s then ENTER.......

How do you know if you computer has these?:
    * Non Core Intel Processors, no PC-EFI for you.
    * Core Based Processors, for PC-EFI to work.
    * AMD processors are not supported at this time.
  • dino
Go to your bios and see the processor info.
  • ilolsforfun
you can email me at zsgittins@earthlink.net
  • ilolsforfun
I tried to boot it from the bios but the screen just went black and blank and then after around 30-45 seconds it started windows. help would be apreciated.
  • jonathan
in order to boot from a cd you have to get into your bios try esc, f2, f5, f8, and f12. you have to find out which one it is and hit it as soon as the computer gets turned on.

  • diegojdiaz
Can you put a little bit more detail on what your CPU needs to install, meaning put what you mean????
  • erjin
    Hi,

every time I try to install (I press -v), it stops at the following lines:

    MAC Framework successfully initialized
using 16384 buffer headers and 4096 cluster IO buffer headers
Extension "com.apple.driver.ACPI_SMC_PlatformPlugin" has immediate dependencies on both com.apple.kernel and com.apple.kpi components; use only one style.

What shall I do? Any way to get past this?

    Need any more information?

Thanks for your help in advance :)

what are the system requirements for this to work?
  • mgojkovic
I have a problem,i start the install and all,but i it can't find any hard drives or partitions.
When it asks where to install Leopard,i don't have anything.
  • glenwilding
Thats because you need to go to the utilities menu and format a partition with the mac system before you install
  • mgojkovic
No,you don't understand me.I tried to go to the disk utility, and it didn't find anything there. Then I went to the system specs utility, and under Serial-ATA devices,it said:No Serial-ATA devices found.
  • glenwilding
in your bios set your sata to ide mode if its not in that mode already, more than likely that the osx isnt picking up your sata card.
  • brian
you have to set your SATA as configured to AHCI
  • thais c.
Will this work if I try to install it on a PC that currently has NO other OS?
(ps. Yes, I am a complete newb)
  • Peter
I've burned iAtkos to the disc and when i try to boot from bios it does not work it just keeps saying retry and doesn't boot up. I'm running Windows 7 ultimate with with an intel duo core 2 duo processor. Any help?
  • Bender
This Really doesnt seem to work on a pc, I downloaded the cd and installed it successfully on a 3rd hardrive of its own and followed your directions exacly but it will not boot to Leopard all it wants to do is go straight to the boot cd and start all over again, F8 doesnt make any difference, neither does -s in command window, Im running windows 7 on dual core 2 but Im installing leopard to a harddrive of its own and it still doesnt work? even setting bios to the harddrive leopard is on doesnt achieve anything, it only looks for the Dawin boot cd or iATKOS and even though successfuly installed will not oot to OS X, seems a waist of time after 4 attemps.
