Hack Attack : Install Leopard On your PC in Just One Step

Update : If you are looking for a guide to Dual Boot Windows Vista and Mac OSX Leopard, please follow this guide Hack Attack : Dual Boot Leopard and Windows Vista. The Dual Boot Guide is a comprehensive guide and it should work for most of you with a little bit of hard work.

Here is a complete guide to install Mac OSX Leopard 10.5.1 (9B18) on your PC, in just one step that is as easy as it could possibly get. Just pop in the DVD and you are good to go, running Leopard in no time, with all the 300+ features at your fingertips.

index_hero20071016Its been nearly two months, since I last  wrote my guide to Install Leopard on your PC in just 3 Steps. Well I wanted to write a better How-To that would answer many questions that people had from my previous How-To.

I am writing this guide for a novice user, who doesn’t know much about the various commands that went into my previous article. This is a one step process that almost anybody in this world would be able to follow.

Here are the basic requirements for you to proceed with the installation of Leopard  :

  • A Blank DVD-R to burn the ISO.
  • The ISO image to be downloaded from Mininova.

Before I tell you, how to install OSX I would like to tell you why this release by Uphuck and Eskurza is an important milestone in the OSX86 Project.

  • This is the first ever Leopard DVD to come out with the amazing PC-EFI built in. If you are wondering what PC-EFI is all about, then let me tell you something about it :

With the EFI patch, the hackintosh can boot off VANILLA UNMODIFIED OS X kernel and use  vanilla kexts, which gives a more clean room and great peace of mind for future system updates.

To Know more about PC-EFI visit the OSX86 Wiki

  • iATKOS (as this release is called) supports a variety of Hardware configurations, and many popular Graphic Cards, Network Cards are supported.

Now lets proceed with the installation of Leopard. Before that here are few conditions your CPU must satisfy to use this installation method..

  • Non Core Intel Processors, no PC-EFI for you.
  • Core Based Processors, for PC-EFI to work.
  • AMD processors are not supported at this time.

Ok now, lets proceed with the installation :

Step 1: Installing Leopard

  • Download the Installation ISO from Mininova. You can find it by performing a search for iATKOS v1.0i (Its about 2.09 GB).
  • Once you are done, with downloading burn the ISO at very slow speeds to the DVD.
  • Pop in the DVD and boot into it from BIOS and follow the Onscreen Instructions.
  • Select the Appropriate Packages, based on your hardware and then proceed.
  • Installation might take about an hour or so, so grab yourself a cup of coffee  while you install Leopard.

Step 2: That is all my, my Friend

  • Didn’t I say it was a one step installation process. Yes it really was.. Congratulations you’ve done it.

That’s it for now. I will be updating this post in the future, when the AMD patch is released. If you have any questions, please drop in a comment, or ask your questions in the Uphuck Forums.

A big thanks to Uphuck and Eskurza for this amazing release. A lot of credit for all this hardwork goes to them. And ofcourse to Netkas for the development of PC-EFI. Cheers!

Please seed for atleast a couple of days, once you have finished downloading. This will help other people to get this amazing release faster.

  1. An interesting news. I’ll try to install iATKOS on a virtual machine build with VMware Workstation 6.

  2. what’s the search criteria on mininova.org to found the correct iso image for install with this steps??

    Thanks in advance.

  3. CEYOS

just type in “iatkos v1.0i” and you should find it. check the correct spelling, i first missed some letters and didn’t find it either.

But it’s damn slow isn’t it?

  4. Lukeaut

Hi! very good news, but i have just one question: are the sound and wlan troubles solved?
    greetings from austria

  5. tdadaakd

Does anyone have the direct link to the iso on mininova?

  6. irobert

Question? Can i partition some drive space on windows vista and install the dvd on the new drive space or do i have to format my entire drive (remove vista) then install leopard?

  7. rich

that was my question as well. Can this be installed on a system running Windows already as a dual boot system?

  8. MIKE

I have a P4 3.0G PC. Can I install Leoopard on it using your DVD image? Thanks.

  9. tony

Question: is this very safe to do? Will it screw up my computer in unimaginable ways? Is its reversible? Thank you for reading this

  10. THOMAS

“Question? Can i partition some drive space on windows vista and install the dvd on the new drive space or do i have to format my entire drive (remove vista) then install leopard?”

Hey, I am in the process of downloading this. However, from previous experiences with other releases, it is possible. I don’t see why not with this version.

  11. Robbie

Just a reminder to keep seeding the file after your done so it will download faster for all of us. 150kb/s for me right now.

What are these WLAN and sound issues?? Can they be fixed?

  12. mark v

    Attempting to download file now.
I’m an abseloute newbie and am wondering if this will work on my system (Dell D830 laptop) especially cause we use LanDesk at school for software distribution and I am using the Wave security suite for the fingerprint reader.
But I guess I’ll find out

  13. Elmar

Are there any other ways to download the iso faster?
With the torrent i got it will take a long time. (1 kb/s at this moment)

  14. Amit Pal Singh

will it harm my proccessor and will i be able to install xp again on my pc?

  15. @Amit: No it won’t harm your processor and you should be able to reinstall XP incase things go wrong..

  16. @Elmar: Right now Torrents seem to be the only option..

@Everyone: Yes you can multiboot leopard with other OS’es.. For more details on this lookup the OSX86 wiki..

  17. Amit Pal Singh

is it original leopard or theme or demo version and will i be able to download softwares from apple.com and how can i change internet broadband changes please tell? and i also want to tell u that u have worked gr8 u r a genius ?

  18. Amit Pal Singh

i simply have to download iATKOS AND BURN IT INTO A DVD AND POP INTO DVD READER IN MY PC & FROM BIOS CHANGE SETTINGS THATS IT OR ANYTHING MORE ???

  19. @Amit: I suggest you don’t try to Install leopard on your PC.. I’m not very sure if you able to complete the installation. I’m sorry if I was a little bit rude to you..

  20. Amit Pal Singh

if i am having core2duo processor with 512mb will i be able to install it on my pc please reply i will be very thankful to u ?

  21. Hi,

Does anyone successfully installed this on their PC already running Windows XP. Also will it affect programs that were originally working on windows system?

    Thank you for your help.

    g

  22. jtiago

so, your telling that its just install Leopard like you install Win XP?
or the version that mininova have is different that the “standard version” ?

    PS; sorry the bad english..
    jTiago PT

  23. Tristan

Amit- I think maybe you should get your general computing skills to a higher bar before trying something that is a little tricky, as this may prove to be. Any time you install a non-native OS you will probably be swimming in troubled waters.
Also, the best way to get help is to sit, breathe, and ponder your question before posting so it comes out in a legible manner. Thank you.

Karthik- Thanks for the guide, Im happy with ubuntu atm, but this is something I’ve been wanting to try for a while. Any chance we can get an article on extended compatibility? (i.e. battery usage, quirks, stability, etc)

  24. I have a P4 3.0Ghz, so… “Non Core Intel Processors, no PC-EFI for you.” Would I be able to install Leopard without PC-EFI?

  25. Aj

Hey karthik kastury thanks for this man i have bin trying to get leopard to run on my pc for about a week now i hope it works. do u now if its on any private torrent site keep up the good work man.

  26. if you continue with this posts the next step would be…leopard preinstaled in my pc?

  27. Andrew

Can you install this as dual boot with other OSs on the computer with a grub menu?

  28. jack

    Christ man, just try it.

  29. blind.tiger

Loads of folks waiting for a seed.

  30. Indian_dude

Hey Karthik, jus wanna say a huge huge well done to you and your team for creating such a wicked hack! am in process of downloading it now, has it been tested on SSE2 processors yet? or is it strictly for SSE3 only right now? cheers mate,

oh yeah, have the sound and WLAN probs been solved in this release??

  31. Bleh

Hi, great job on this and thanks for the torrent as well.

One question, do you have any idea whether or not my 8800GT 512mb video card will be supported under Leopard? I have serached but found no confirmation as of yet, just curious whether its worth installing it or not.

  32. Daniel

Is the Pentium D a Core based processor? I want to say it is, as it does indeed have two cores, but just making sure.

  33. JoeWoah

The d/l says it’s for SSE3 processors only, do you have anything out or planned that will work with SSE2 processors?

    Thanks

  34. Devendra Dave

Can’t I buy a new Leopard DVD from Mac and install it on my Core 2 Duo processor laptop?

  35. sepe

BUY A MAC. WHY EVEN BOTHER TRYING TO RUN LEOPARD ON A PC? YOU BOUGHT THE DELL PIECE OF SHIZNIT. LIVE WITH IT.

  36. Leopard

/* insert obligitory piracy warning here */

You shouldn’t really be downloading Leopard without paying for it. It’s illegal. Go buy a copy of Leopard instead!

/* end obligitory piracy warning */

  37. Andrew Bum-Dooby

Hey, can someone seed the file? I’m stuck at about 58%, and I think a lot of others are too. Thanks!

  38. ndtwc

    Thanks for the great guide.
But a dual boot guide would be even better…
So please, is there any page about dual booting Windows XP and this latest release of Mac OS X?
    Thanks

  39. Sorrow

How about file system?! Fat32, NTFS or …

  40. ike07

we need more seeds guys. 61% is about the limit everyone has reached.

    *3* seeds and 3900 peers.

  41. peasngrits

This is very cool. Just bought a macbook for my wife and I was wondering about doing the same thing on a spare pc I have. One question, will the patch/hack work if I was to try the OS X dvd that came with the macbook? I’m downloading the torrent now and it has 6 hours to go 175 kb/s.

  42. ian

just waiting on 67%, people seed please

  43. Nir

The ISO should be 7.5 or 6 GB? because all the releases that i found are 6 or 7.5 GB…
And you said that Its about 2.09 GB…

  44. mousike

Hi everyone! To download Leopard I’m using Deluge bit torrent client for Ubuntu…it goes pretty fast (it reaches 250 kB/s sometimes), and makes even possible to pause/restore the download…

Let’s hope to have a full Leopard working for Christmas!

    Intel Core 2 Duo E6550 (2,33 GHz, 4 MB L2 cache, 1333 FSB)
    2 GB DDRII 667 MHz

  45. Amit Pal Singh

what is iso dvd-r plz tell me?

  46. Christiaan

    3 seeders
    4185 leechers!

  47. BJND

Is there anyone that successfully downloaded the file?

What’s inside? Seems a zip file and only 2GB, where is the rest?

  48. Paulo

I’m stuck at 85,4%… anyone knows a better way to download this???

  49. Yellow Snow

I downloaded the file, installed it on a Sony VGN-N365E laptop with core duo processor. I booted from cd, It showed dos errors for about 30 minutes then, started up OSX install. i had to reformat a partition on my HD for OSX extended journaled, The install completed and Leopard is running great, Wifi works, and its even faster than my Macbook 13 nch with the same processor. However, there is no sound and i MUST boot from the disc to get to the operating system. Afterwards i can eject the disc and use the mac as usual. The only other, small glitch i noticed was the tap to click on the touchpad not available and the battery bar doesnt exist. Besides that, great job on this OS!!!

  50. ian

paulo you should get a better computer i am allready at 85.8%
    (way ahead of you)
just kidding, why people do not seed?!

  51. ike07

    @Yellow Snow

    please, please seed again.

there are 30 seeds now….but the seeder:leecher ratio is hovering around .006 this number should be up around 1.00 and higher for a good, stable torrent.

The download speeds are great until ~86%…..based on my last post this number is good, i guess. It is up, which means someone is connected to a seed.

  52. well i just want to know if i can run this on my laptop that have a core2duo T5500 @ 1.66Ghz and i have 1.5 Gb of RAM with Integrated graphics card of intel 950

i run now microsoft windows vista home premium, but if can run os x, i will change with no doubt.

    thk.
    plz answer my question.
    bye

  53. YELLOW SNOW

I am seeding, will continue for a few weeks

  54. Term

Hey guys, thanks again for this great hack. With the torrent, thank you Yellow Snow, and others seeding, but we need more seeds. Right now we have 0/33 seeds on, (3 in swarm). And 4900 leechers -.- Everyone is stuck at 89%, if a seed could come on and get some of us to 100% we could get atleast another 15 seeders from my peer list. The download is going pretty good, I’m getting around 600kB/s 40% done, and I’ll full force seed once I got it downloaded.

  55. Christiaan

im at 89% downloading of speeds of about 0.1kb/s!!!!
    this is ridiculous!!!
    SEED
    SEED
    SEED!!!!
    its the only way

  56. ike07

    @yellow snow

if you don’t mind me asking. What are rate are you uploading to the community? maybe you could do a dedicated upload tonight. Only upload this torrent and use your full upload bandwidth. A good nights upload will for sure take care of the seed shortage. many will only need an hour or two to get 100% of this torrent.

  57. ike07

    *what rate are

  58. Sir_U

If my file would get any farther than 89.9% I would be glad to continue seeding the file after it was finished. *sigh* I’m currently uploading at 50kBps which is a hell of alot more than I’m able to download which usually sits anywhere between 0.1 to 0.5kBps. If I ever get to 100% I’ll increase my upload speed. In the meantime I obviously need to download the rest of the file from somewhere so — You know who you are. If your file is at 100% that dosent mean stop the file and close the window. It helps if you seed for a while after your downoad has completed.

  59. ian

    speed - 0.01 kbs
    slowly got to 90.4%

    how many people installed allready?

  60. trevor

I’m at 92%/4 kbs been that way for hours…

  61. JT

Cmon guys plz seed. A lot of people are stuck on 93%. Why is it so slow after hitting that percentage?

  62. _RoS_128

Thanks Karthik! It would’ve taken me AT LEAST a week of research to find this stuff and figure out how to use it on my own. I’m very grateful!!!

  63. Mattimus

4000 users currently stuck at 93.8%. I think the seeders need to get back on this.

  64. Prodigy

I just guessing but this will run without any problems on my powerbook g4 tiger 10.4.11. Just let me know if I’m wrong.

  65. ian

from 4 seeds to 2 if that is not being selfish what is???

  66. Sunny

    1. what was my question as well. Can this be installed on a system
running Windows already as a dual boot system?
    2. Is its reversible? Thank you for reading thisIs its reversible?
    3. will i be able to install xp again on my pc?

  67. if i dont drink coffee, what do i do in the last part of step 1???

plzzzzzzzz help!!!! i really like this os!!! plzzzzz im desperate!!! thx!

if tea would do, plz let me know!

  68. Ro!

    Pease evrybody… seed
i’am ok to seed, just tell me how to do because i don’t know :)
    53% ; 110Kb/ss

  69. Nagevmai

Someone please seed the torrent. There are hundreds of us sitting at 97.1% and we can’t progress with the download.

I intend to install on a p4 3.20 GHz SL7E5, can anyone tell me if the PC-EFI is going to work for me?I’m guessing it won’t but I’m not sure what implications that will have on my installation?

How much RAM can Leopard address and use? This used Intel D865GBF board can go to 4 Gig I believe, shoud I load it up? I never had more than 3 Gig in it because of 32 bit Windows inability to use more than 3.5.

  70. Anton

i found 2 torrent in mininova, one downloaded 14.4% at 250KBPS and second one downloaded 16% at 150KBPS, but now i see that everybody stock at 97.1%…

    SEED, people SEED please!!

  71. Sonicer

Please, Please, Please more seeders…. I am at 97.6% and stuck….

  72. MoTo

I was getting 1.1 MEGAbytes per second until it died at 97.76%…

  73. MoTo

By the way, has anyone confirmed whether or not this will work on a Pentium D? The processor specs are not clear about that.

  74. Dima

Can someone please answer sunny’s question?

Also….whats the difference between iAtkos and Kalyway? Can you dual boot with Vista?

    Thanks in advance
    Dima

  75. someone

There are probably no seeds because everyone is too busy reformatting their machines, or running osx in a different partition than the one they downloaded the torrent in.

  76. JT

Hey guys did it actually work for anyone? I booted it up and my computer keeps restarting when its trying to load the kernel.

  77. Bob

Downloaded the torrent, burned the DVD, and restarted several times, only to be greeted by a box telling me I need to restart my computer. Googled it, and apparently it’s a Kernel Panic, which doesn’t help me much.

Is anyone else having this problem, or does anyone know how to fix it?

  78. ejonesss

i got it burned and i get “system config file /com.apple.boot.plist not found.

i downloaded the first image i saw.

i am trying to install on a pentium 4 1.6 ghz based pc

  79. lps

every time my computer starts to start up i hit f12 so i can boot from cd/dvd yet it still loads my computer like normal… and suggestions

  80. Jancis

I`m sitting at a coffee table, enjoying while my laptop is at 50% of installing.. ;) Hope this will finish as well..

And you guys - my router is still seeding this famous iATKOS 3:3000 torrent ;)

  81. ejonesss

update on above i after a little searching found that you have to respond immediately otherwise it tries to look for a non existent file.

unfortunately the dvd activity indicator only flashed a couple times and it is stuck on the spinning wheel and it never boots.

i forgot to mention there is only 256 meg of ram in the machine i wouldnt think that would cause any problems since the boot is very minimal and os x has an always on virtual memory.

  82. Sir_U

Ok, I just checked the files progress. I’m at 100% and I’ll continue to seed for a while. My maximum upload is set to unlimited and I plan to keep it that way for a little while since its running on my server. I hope this helps, enjoy!

  83. Jancis

okay, installed, then reboot (without installation disc) and nothing happens, just blank screen and _ symbol… any ideas?

  84. JM

I can’t actually unzip this. I’ve tried on LInux and Windows with no joy. I got a 100% download. Has anyone else experienced a corrupted download?

  85. FRance

Finished downloading it, First batch who reached 100%.. Still uploading, hope it works for my Asus Z96js Laptop.. Many Thanks to Eskurza, Upchuck and the guy who posted its instructions here.. Happy Holidays!

  86. AUDIOSONIC

ive d/l’d and burnt iso. everything seems fine until i must choose destination for installation. no hard drive present for selection. will keep you up to date with any breakthroughs.

    seeding at 40 kBps btw.

  87. AUDIOSONIC

if anyone knows how to get around this prob. could you point me in the right direction. i can’t find anything about it.
    cheers

  88. ian

got it seeding right now setting to unlimited, enjoy

  89. Jancis

Next step - if anyone else has problem with blank screen and cursor blinking - boot install disk, press f8 (in beginning, when asked) and type in boot parameters: “rd=disk0s1″ (without quotes).. this will boot you system using installation disc.

  90. ian

the file after unzip is 2,44 GB when i burn it using nero 7 it shows that the dvd is only 542 KB used, when i boot from the dvd it says loading darwing and then just reboots again into windows, help any one???

  91. Jancis

might be something wrong :/ i burned in linux

wait, windows says iso image is “2 621 407 232 bytes” big. if this is the same for you then you have to throw out bloated nero sht. ;)

  92. bettoman

HELLO ALL, well i finish download but now how to a burn this iso with program i need to use? please help me thks

  93. ron

I installed it and it worked once. After restart I got a black screen with a blinking dash. i reinstalled and the same thing again.

  94. amadeo

Downloaded it, burned, seems to be the real thing. On VirtualPC, I get to the “apple logo” screen - then it crashes. On Vmvare Worskation 5, I get an error message. Any ideas? Maybe that’s because I am trying on an AMD box. I have access to a P4 and a Core, but only in a few days… ;-(

  95. MP

    Hey guys.
Just tried to install this. But when i get the screen where i have to choose with partition to install it too, there are no partitions, or drives if u wish, shown. Do many more people have this problem, anyone have a solution? Please let me know

  96. audiosonic

hey ian. did you burn the iso image? unzip the “.iso” which in WINRAR and burn the resulting iso as an image. you can use MAGICISO for that.

  97. ron

Strange it only works if i leave the disk in and wait for the time to run out. then it boots mac from the hd.

pc is a compaq c500 laptop

  98. ejonesss

i finally got the pc to boot unfortunately it is the uphuck 10.4.9 that booted.

looks like a botch up was dun to the latest because at 2 gig it is not big enough to hold the startup files.

is it just a upgrade that is meant to be installed from the current session without rebooting or is it meant to be bootable by it’s self.

or is it a full retail bootable?

  99. lps

i install and then it tells me to restart and when i restart it brings me right back to the install screen.. what am i doing wrong

  100. Kris

i agree with JT what do we do if the apple logo and a white screen show up but thats it. it just starts over?

  101. JT

    TO IAN

I had the same problem on my P4 Pressie and Asus Mobo. I tried it on my brothers Dell and got it to install. The problem is it’s not booting, it starts reading from the drive and just hangs…

  102. g

does this work on virtual machine (vmware)?

  103. SIR_U

FYI!!! –heads up, there is a black hat that tried to get into my server…. Had to kill the seed, Keep your eyes open, they are probably using IP addresses out of their torrent client. I may consider seeding again later but for now keep your eyes open! Who ever it was was trying to do some serious damage to my system.

  104. When booting this is what happens…

    Ebios read error:0xbb
    Block 4303672 Sectors 64

    Dell XPS 400
    Dual core Pentium D 2.80GHz
    1.00GB of RAM

Torrent was downloaded as a .Zip and extracted with no errors and then burned to disk with Nero 7.2.3.2. On the first boot at would make it to the APPLE splash page…wait about 3 minutes and then reboot…Any ideas?? Thanks.

As a side note the disk has a total of 9 files on it and the size is below.

    Size 183 KB (188,386 bytes)
Size on disk 192 KB (196,608 bytes)

  105. ron

    huh garg zzzzzz

  106. Dima

AUDIOSONIC: I had the same problem, in that screen goto Utility: disk utility and create a new partition, i ended up deleting my old one to create a new one. If this doesn’t help, ill try to walk you through it..

    Dima

  107. wikiterra

I downloaded, seeded for a while, and will some more. Then I successfully burned CD, although at high (18X) speed. I was able to boot, got to the load screen, but when I followed the directions and started to erase a partition, it hiccuped–it wasn’t able to load the partition, because the format was wrong. This was an old linux installation I don’t use anymore, I think it’s in reiserfs, but maybe ext3. Anyway, I’m going to use GParted to reformat the drive, and then I will proceed with the installation.

  108. France

    @JANCIS

thanks for the tip “rd=disk0s1″… finally got my laptop to boot.. unfortunately i’ve wiped out all other os except this one.. BTW, does anybody know how to make this one into a dual boot? i wish to have vista in another partition.. Also, my screen resolution is set to 1024×768, but my laptop is 1200×800. Hope someone can help me.. ATi X1600 vcard..

  109. jospjn

hello Guys it is happening the same to me I have a Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3P mobo, I am burning iATKOS to DVD-R and when I boot nothing happens as if there was no CD.

  110. @All, Everyone who wishes to Dual Boot Windows Vista/XP with Leopard, please wait I’ll be releasing a new How-To shortly.. Right now I am busy with my exams..

  111. jospjn

before burnng iatkos to DVD do you have to extract it to another program or just burn it as is?

    Thanks again guys

  112. France

Oh boy…=C the rd=disk0s1 technique only worked once.. after restarting Mac keeps on telling me that I should restart my machine.. How sad..

    Asus Z96js Laptop

    Inter CoreDuo T2400 1.83 Ghz
    1 GB Ram
    Intel 945 chipset
    ATi X1600
    80 GB ( 16, 9, 50)

    Mother Broad: Asus P5B-VM
    Hard disk: SATA2, 280G

Installation program cannot detect my hard disk (SATA2), only hard disk using ATA can be detected. However, my mother broad do not support system boot from ATA hard disk.

Does the installation support SATA2 hard disk?

  121. ejonesss

after some work i found that it may be a bad mother board because while the in staller for the uphuck version of 10.4.9 booted the hard drive was not being recognized.

and so i tried it in a hp pavilion 500 intel celeron cpu.

and the dvd started to boot and gave a kernel panic for 10.4.9 and leopard would not work either.

are i know that celerons are intel but do they act like amd’s?

  122. Teckno-Wiz

Hey, I seem to have some problems…
My computer boots to the Darwin loader, and I press enter to start the insallation process. Darwin loads, then the apple screen pops up for a fraction of a second, then my computer reboots. I have tried it with XP installed, without XP installed, and even with a different HDD. Here’s my specs for you to see.

    Dell XPS 720
    Intel Core 2 Quad
    Dual nVidia 8800 GTS 712MB
    nVidia 570i Mobo
    CD-ROM Reader/Writer 52x
    DVD +/-R +/-RW Reader/Writer
    DVD DL +/- R +/-RW Reader/Writer
    Blu-Ray Disk Drive
    3.5 In. Floppy Drive
    16 In 1 Media Reader

Hope you guys can help me, because I REALLY want to use Final Cut Pro on my XPS. Shoot me an e-mail or post here if you have any answers. THANKS!

  123. Jorge

France, i have the same problem, i have tried “rd=disk0s1″ but after it, keeps on telling me that I should restart. :(

  124. Jason

I’ve been stuck at 98.8 % for two days. If some one could help for a little bit it would be appretiated.

  125. V5000

i have the same prob. in leopard, my pc keeps rebooting after it says Darwin Loads. but in tiger i can’t find my SATA hard drive in disk utility.

    Is there any solution….???

  126. Stefano

I’ve tried in a virtual machine. It loads from DVD, ask me to press enter, display loading, display blank screen with apple (not even one second) and start back from the beginning… Counseling?

  127. Steffwiz

I Have Not Tried This Yet But I Am Really Looking Forward To A AMD Dual-Boot With The Vista Boot-Loader (If This Will Ever Be Possible)

  128. Cavendish

Oh please, please someone seed. 99.8%… 13 peers, 0 seeds… Two tenths of a percent away… So close I can TASTE it…

    Gigibyte GA-X38-DQ6 Motherboard
Geforce 8800 GT 512MB GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 Video Card

I have installed iATKOS though I am unsure if I’ve selected the right configuration settings. I’ve tried several configurations, none seem to boot fully. The closest I can get is booting off the hard disk (but only if the leopard disc is in the CD tray), loading most of Leopard, and coming to a screen that states I must restart my machine. Without the disc in the tray, Bios checks for CD boot, drops down one line, and sits with a blinking cursor indefinately.

  130. TANGO

is anyone able to do this on a machine already running XP without losing everything? i only have access to my Sony VAIO at the moment and do not want to lose all the programs that came with it…

to anyone who has tried to install: Did you install on a computer already running windows? also, after trying to install, were you able to boot back up in windows (without having to reinstall it)?

    thanks for the help!

  131. audiosonic

    to dima:

thanks.. i solved it last night. problem was that i couldnt control mouse pointer to access menus. it just started working one time. pretty random actually.

i got this release intalled ok but it would not boot up. it would simply boot into the installer every time regardless how i booted (letting it time out. hitting any key, or F8 option. ive now successfully installed uphuck 10.4.9 release.

problem is now finding drivers for my acer aspire 5710 as i have no sound, no LAN, no wireless.

  139. Well, I tried to install this on one of my PCs, and it just got “stuck” on this screen when I tried.

I left it on overnight! If anyone knows what I’ve done wrong, I’d be VERY grateful. For the recored, this is the first thing that comes up. It asks you before if you want to install Mac OS X, you press Enter to agree. Then it goes to this screen, and in my case, fails to do anything else.

  140. Josh Rath

Hi, i was wondering if you know of a 1 step process to install tiger. I dont want to mess around with leopard till it gets better, stability wise, and i need it to work on an amd. So e-mail me with info, or comment here.

i tried to write “-v” when i press F8 and a lot of lines with things written appears, and then the last one is:
“ERROR: Firewire - unable to determine security-mode; defaulting to full-secure”
and then.. it stays there for about 15seconds and then restarts again!

does anyone have the same problem? or have any idea of what am i doing wrong?
    need some help, plz ;)

    Thanks

  148. elinickles

for those having trouble downloading search for it on BTJunkie not MiniNova - the one on MiniNOva doesn’t seem to have any completed copies while the BTJunkie one should come down in under three hours (at least thats what it did for me)

now if i could just figure out how to double boot this sucker

  149. Joe

    ^ Same as above ^

When i try to install it just restarts my computer. It says to press a button to install Leopard then i press but when its loading my computer restarts. Any help would be great.

One of these torrents where removed from mininova. But i found it on isohunt, which has thousands of seeders!

  158. Pistolwhip

Well I’m trying to install as well, been trying a few diffferent set ups, like kalaway, and brazil patch. So i see a LOT of people posting problems and nobody saying they got this working, this a bunk walk-through? i dont wanna be a jerk but i’m seeing a lot of common problems with no solutions which leads me to belive the authors don’t really care for it. well ill keep trying to figure this out for a bit and post results.

  159. Pistolwhip

not sure if your having the keyboard problem at the darwin boot process, but i had the same problem, got the darwin to run by using the good old copy and paste. so i’m going through installation right now and crossing my fingers :)

  160. Christiaan

    @Najlaa

    Same problem here too

  161. Christiaan

i looked at the info in the advanced options and it said something about security and reverting to something. my computer is completely wiped and im trying to install

  162. Leonardo

Leopard X64 for AMD X2 processors…??? any plans..?

  163. Jancis

It didnt recognize my LAN and WIFI cards.

I also tried loading it from grub menu (linux loader) and it did get past startup screen (apple with round loader), then it shows blue screen like background and thats it..

but guys.. i tried using it with cd boot method i described and enjoyed it for ~15 minutes.. you know what? - i got this feeling like i have to have macbook with that cute apple on cover by itself and put on ubuntu linux.. because my ubuntu is more handy and it has more features.. i like the way i can customize it and it has more eye candy..

oh well so much for it, you guys go on and try, i`ve made my decision.. actually i just need that cute looking laptop not os.. linux is far more good already.. later it will be even better :)

  164. P4T0

Karthik Kastury I know you are busy with your exams an all..
But a lot of people are having problems with this release and it would be right if you could, as well as anyone else who has successfully managed to install this OSX, to take a minute and explain to others how to BURN and INSTALL it properly.. Thanx in advance!
And yes I am waiting for your guide on how to Multi-Boot this release.
    Merry Christmas!

  165. Yehuda

The iso is no supported in every pc platform. I tried some old and new pc’s and I succeeded only on two machine.

    many thanks

  167. tom

I have followed the directions several times now to instill Leopard on my pc, however every time i turn my comp on, go to BIOS to start my computer from my cd-rom drive, it seems to work for a few seconds and then windows starts, I have no idea why it is doing this, is there a reason? a solution? I apologize if the answer is mundane, id just really like to get leopard working.

  168. CC

Ok, after 36 hrs of repartitioning/erase/reinstalling…This is what I did

To people who is getting the darwin start but keep rebooting problem…
iAtkos EFI does not support Pentium D proceesor on my case, so after I reinstall Leo without EFI but with speedstep…it is working now.

    hope this helps =)

  169. Adam

I Have A Problem Trying To Install Also. I am using hp pavilion zx5280.
    Specs: P4 3.20GHZ W/HT
    80 Gig Hdd,
    1 gig Kingston Value Ram

I have Noticed that leopard is 64 bit. That can be part of the problem since alot of older processeors are not 64 bit capable. Have download via mininova. burned at 5,540kbs using magic iso. Also This Is A laptop I am Using.

When I just let it boot on its own it gets to apple screen then reboots.
When I use advanced options and type -v it loads hfs a few times then restarts. Idk what the problem is. if anyone can help thanxs. I will be buying a macbook soon anyways but whant to c if it worth the money

  170. Adam

Ok I downloaded vmware and tried installing it through there. whell this is what it states. *** Virtual machine kernel stack fault (hardware reset) ***
The virtual machine just suffered a stack fault in kernel mode. On a real computer, this would amount to a reset of the processor. It can be caused by an incorrect configuration of the virtual machine, a bug in the operating system, or a problem in the VMware Workstation software. Press OK to reboot virtual machine or Cancel to shut it down.

Also This Popped Up:System Config File ‘/com.apple.boot.plist’ not found

  171. ejonesss

NAJLAA you are not alone i have the same problem with the iatkos dvd so i grabbed the tiger version (i think it is the uphuck release and it booted the installer and installed but then the os could not boot from the hard drive it was stuck on the blank screen.

hopefully someone will patch and build a full live dvd that will run on any pc by using generic code that is not cpu specific (no need for builds for amd, pentium, celeron, etc.)

  172. William

I download the file the one with the bootloader is that the right one I put the dostk in the drive I get the apples logo but that is all any ide ?

  173. feddyups

Most of the hanged proccess issues have been resolved with iATKOS_v1.0ir2, at the moment there is no ISO image created, but there is a patch for the 1.0i version.

Note, most of the torrents presented on this thread, do not comply with the original md5 tracker of the Patched DVD. I cannot verify the validity of the tors presented herein, hence, if there is anyone using them, leave your comments here please.
intend to do the same in a couple of hours, patching and installing the iATKOS on a Nocola dual Xeon, under a Precision 470 Dell workstation.
    Merry Xmas.

  174. Patrick

    Hi 2geta! :D

    Hey

does someone know why the difference between de 6gb retail version and the 2.09iatkos iso??

  176. tom

I installed leopard, it works beautifully, however, leopard does not seem to recognize my wireless, it says “no airport card installed”, nor does it recognize the Ethernet when it is plugged in, does anyone have the same problem? is there a solution?

  177. tom

to add onto my last post, it seems that although leopard is working, the operating system does not recognize any of my hardware, usb drives internet etc… only my cd rom drive. is there a reason why this could be happening? please inform me of a solution.
    thanks

  178. keyur

Still confused does this really work

  179. RUI.H

    People, Let’s seed plz!
i am 99.8% done and the download speed turn to 0.1KB/s
    Come On

  180. Chopper

Just installed Leopard over my existing dual-boot Vista/OSX 10.4.9 system, leopard installed fine, but when I come to register, I select location and keyboard, but then it won’t let me get past the “time machine” backup/restore screen. In the old install I could quit the registration process by pressing Alt+Q (aka Apple+Q) but this one refuses (shut down or continue). Any ideas? I just press continue without restoring and it dumps me back to the first screen again (pick location). Cheers guys.

  181. DJ-Cappy

HAHA! i’m downloading at 550kb/s constantly! it only took me about 1 hour to get it!

Well, i was also downloading from a private torrent site :P

  182. frank911

when i download it, appears many files:
    BOOT.
    BOOT.CAT
    BOOT0.
    BOOT1H.
    BOOT1U.
    BOOTEFI.
    BOOTHELP.TXT
    CDBOOT.
    CHAIN0.

i dont find the iso file please help

  183. Nes

does anyone know i/ and when this will come out for amd processors???

  184. jmac

For anyone trying to download this iso, don’t use the mininova torrent all of the downloads stick at 99.81%. Use the isohunt torrent, it’s got plenty of seeders at 100%. This is the third try at downloading this, and had I known this before, it would have saved me a ton of waiting.

Now for the install in about an hour.

  185. Andrew

share the wealth dude… i can’t seem to download it, can’t connect to the torrent server…

i got a question, does this install disc come with the whole ilife suite?

  186. R Pierce

I had successfully downloaded the iATKOS version of Leopard and the version that uses the three step process with the patch. In both cases I wind up with a blinking cursor on a black screen and it never boots.
I tried all of the suggested fixes which included using the GParted Live CD to set the boot flag and the other ideas which included using the terminal mode on the install DVD iso and entering the Unix commands to make the partition active. I was attempting this install on an attached USB drive. All to no avail. While I would have liked to have gotten this OS working I began to wonder why. Probably for the thrill of getting something for nothing that otherwise cost upwards of $125 and for the joy of hacking.
But to be practical I know a better way to achieve the security of a Unix (LInux) environment without all of the hassles this Leopard install has caused me (Over 48 hours of trial and errors). I downloaded the latest version of PCLinux and had it working in less than 1 hour !
Sound, ethernet , video, internet, and the security of Linux.
Hats off to anyone who can get this hacked version of Leopard to work
on an intel PC. But PCLinux works just fine on any system that has
come out in the last 5 years or so.

  187. Paul

The Darwin/x86 kernel loads but after that my computer keeps rebooting.

    2 ideas for you all:

    1. There may be a problem with SLi nvidia cards.

    2. There may be a problem with RAID arrays.

If any of you have this working with EITHER combo, it would be cool to know that there is some other problem. Thanks!

  188. Macaliscious

Anyone see what I see? First posts were full of shear excitement! You poor depraved windows users were finally going to get Leopard. The next series of posts were impatient pirates eagerly waiting for this luscious OS. And now, the posts are all distress calls. . .pleading for help. “Install Leopard on your PC in JUST ONE STEP.” For me it was one easy step. I bought the leopard disc put it in my Macbook and voila, I installed Leopard. Apparently you all want what Apple has to offer. Just man up and get one, you won’t be dissatisfied.

  189. (h3ze

er…i have the file, and it is loaded to a DVD, but when i look at the files, the total size is less than 1MB!? it boots fine, but during the instalation, it kinda gets screwed up…am i supposed to burn the .iso with powerIso or something at low speeds?

  190. Walt210%

    @ TOM
as far as i understood this topic you only can boot leopard when its the only os installed (so you would have to remove windows).
I have 2 HDDs in my notebook so i tryed it with only one of them and it worked, but at the registration my keyboard didn’t work so i couldn’t continue.
I think we all shoud wait for a “better”, newer release which is more simple to install and works better.

  191. Karuzo

I’m downloading by eMule, after an unsuccessfull try by torrent. Super fast if you have your eMule ports openned!

i dont find the iso file please help

  194. Ack

I downloaded the file in 7 hrs. Got the torrent from mininova and used Azeurus. Do you think this will work on a 3.0 P4? 2 gb Ram…PC3200, PNY GeForce 6800 Ultra… or too outdated you think? I may have to back up my primary rig and try it on there… Let me know what you think…

  195. foo

Forget mininova, get it off isohunt

  196. Queppa

    Hey Macaliscious,

If Apple had of brought out leopard ages ago then maybe we would have got a mac. I say maybe too because the price of them is outrageous.
Have a look at the upgrade price of the macbook pro to get the ram upgraded from 2gig to 4gig. $1000. A freekin $1000. Thats an entire laptop brand new from the shop.
Maybe if the Macs weren’t so friggen expensive more people would buy them.

  197. shownoregrets

for everyone who has had the looping welcome screen problem, heres the solution that worked for me and a few others

after installing, reboot and press f8..then, at the commmand line, type in
“-x -v -f rd=disk0s1″ except without the quotes…the installlation should be smooth afterwards

i sitll can’t get this damn wireless to work though!

  198. nikl4ss

Will this make me able to run Leopard on my Mac, through Parallels or VMWare? / Thanks
