Apple Releases iPhone 1.1.2 Update
The Cat and Mouse game is on, and this time its Apple that’s got the upper hand over the Hackers. Apple has just released the firmware update to Apple iPhone. The latest firmware version is 1.1.2. The iPod hasn’t got a firmware update as yet, and it looks like Touch users will have to wait for some time. You can download the ipsw file directly from Apple or upgrade straight in iTunes. The documentation is available on the Apple Site here.
Preliminary reports from people who have upgraded to the latest firmware say that :
- Jailbreakme.com doesn’t work anymore. (TIFF Exploit Fixed)
- All 3rd Party apps are now gone.
- iToner does still work.
The Hackers at the iPhone Dev Team are at hacking the iPhone again, with the IRC channel becoming busy all over again. Netkas (Brilliant Hacker!) who first found the TIFF Exploit on the iPhone is currently busy with OSX86, so there is some serious work that needs to be done. Which means that the countdown for a jailbreak has begun. When do you think a working Jailbreak will be released?
The Good news is that this time, unlocking does not appear to be a barrier to upgrade–especially if you’ve used the recent revirginizing and safer unlocking methods.

I recently took an iPhone from USA , I have done all the unlocking process .
I made a duplicate file of cd /System/Library/Frameworks/CoreTelephony.framework/Support/O2_UK .plist and changed the name to Airtel_In.plist.
Then I made the necessary changes in the string for the string for MCCMNC code ie 40406, 40402, 40410 . Then I ran the command
ln -s Airtel_In.plist , This phone is in India , and the phone seems to be rebooting and with lots of crashes report in logs mainly on the spring boards . Now all i need to do is revirginise and do all the process again. Itunes is not detecting the iphone when plugged to the computer.
Please let me know on this I am kind of worried with iphone getting bricked or is it bricked . First my firmware was 1.1 and then later i installed opto application and updated to 1.1.2 and then made those steps . Please find the steps what i followed . I am able to enter the iphone from Winscp and ssh.
Regards
Dilip
owngrade to 1.1.1
(lots of guides around, follow them)
- I noticed that AppSnap won’t work if iTunes doesn’t see the iphone 1st. Like an initial “sync” is needed. Then you can just close it.
- After jailbreak, install package Oktoprep from Installer>Tweaks(1.1.1)
Upgrade to 1.1.2
- Click on upgrade in iTunes and go get some coffee
Jailbreak 1.1.2
- So, right now you should have a nice 1.1.2 activate screen talking in tongues. As a rule of thumb, just open iTunes and let it detect the iPhone then close it.
- Now run windows.bat from the 1.1.2 jailbreak and check option Install ssh, change password if needed and click Jailbreak
- Might take like 5-10 mins, more coffee maybe?
Activate 1.1.2
- By now you should have rebooted your phone and you’re back at the 1.1.2 active screen
- Run winscp, put necessary info (ip address, usr/pwd, let it on SFTP in the protocol) and click connect
- Now go to /usr/libexec/ and make a backup of lockdownd on your pc(we NEVER know)
- Unzip the patched lockdownd and put in /usr/libexec/
- Click on “more”, set permissions 0755 (so check all Xs, you’ll figure it out)
- Click ok, and overwrite the existing lockdownd
- Reboot your phone
Carrier settings *optional* (For those who wanna sexy up that iphone )
- Winscp to your phone and put ls and bash in /bin
- Click on “more”, set both permissions to 0755
- Check here for your carrier’s MCC and MNC (it’s not as hard as it sounds)
e.g MCC = 334 MNC = 02, the number we’ll need is 33402
- Open the Telcel.plist in UltraEdit or wordpad and modify accordingly (Don’t forget to rename your .plist file & change the supported sim section)
- Use winscp to put the modified .plist to /System/Library/Frameworks/CoreTelephony.framework/Support/
- Open putty and connect to your phone
- Type bash at the prompt
- Type cd /System/Library/Frameworks/CoreTelephony.framework/Support
- Type ln -s YOURCARRIER.plist NUMBER
e.g ln -s Telcel.plist 302370
