I suspect (I could be wrong) that some admins have glossed over WSUS features/settings, and that this situation where updates are auto installed has been happening for a while without their knowledge. The only reason anyone has noticed this particular update is becasue it is actually slowing machines down with it's indexing operation. I know I am guilty of installing software without fully understaning all the implications. Who has time to read hundreds of pages of install/admin guides? Moral of the story is it's easier to point the finger at someone else when something doesn't go aour way.
