Leopard – Tips and Tricks

Well the hackers are at it again, this time undoing the User Interface mess that Apple created with OS X Leopard. If you are one of the old time Mac Users, I am sure you have gotten used to an Opaque Finder, A Dock that is simple and has Triangular icons.. Well with Leopard Apple has removed all this and given us something that is flashy.. Well here are some tips that will restore your Dock and Finder to a state that you will love it even more.

Tip 1 : Get Rid of the 3D Dock

Well if you don’t like the 3D Dock and you want to get rid of it altogether then Open Terminal.app and execute the following commands,

defaults write com.apple.dock no-glass -boolean YES; killall Dock

This will get you the standard Dock that you have got used to. Well here is a screenshot of the dock that you will get after this hack.

 

Tip 2 : Get those Triangular Indicators back on the Dock

If you are a Mac Oldie, I am sure you have got accustomed to the tiny triangular indicators on the Dock and now that Leopard has done away with them, you want it back. Well this isn’t too hard at all. All you need to do is follow this well written tutorial from Mike.

Turns out that you need to just replace 3 files in the System, so it isn’t super hard to do..

 

Tip 3 : Get rid of the Menu Bar Transparency

Well this has to be the easiest of all. Just Download this file and install it on your Mac. When you run it choose Toggle Level to set the transparency to what ever you want. Sweet! isn’t it!

    The author of this needs to reconnect adjoining brain cells because:
    (a) Piracy helps lots of people.
    (My personal view is that as long as the people who stand to gain from your legal purchase are earning at least 20 times your earnings you can justify opting out of paying)
    and (b) The question of why piracy doesn't help anyone is answered by the fact that the author thinks Erack looks stupid...? If anyone can find some sense in that please join Erackisanidiot's anti-piracy campaign at www.erackisanidiotisanidiot.com :-)

    Erack you stupid prick! If you have to use torrents to get this latest OS X version called Leopard, then you're nothing but the cheapest person ever. If you can not afford to pay $129 or even just $109 at some stores, then you are not worth of using it. Stick to some old OS X version.

    Spreading piracy like this doesn't help anyone, especially not to you... why ? Because you look so stupid now. You simply couldn't avoid posting about it in public... if you use pirated version you could at least keep it for yourself...
