Yes it seems that Google is apparently planning to buy the World’s largest Domain Registrar GoDaddy. While it is pure speculation but I seriously believe that Google would be willing to buy GoDaddy that could indirectly remove spammy search engine results.

Google Watch Reports that GoDaddy has been on a patent spree, appplying for over 50 Patents in the last few months. Notably Godaddy applied for a patent that would enable to present search engine results based on Domain Reputation Data. Reading the patent data reveals that Godaddy definately has something up it sleeves.

Here is what the patent applied by GoDaddy says :

The invention describes a method for presenting search engine results based on domain name related reputation data. The search engine may sort or order search engine results based on domain name related reputation data. In some cases links connected to low reputation domain names may be excluded from search engine results. Alternatively, the search engine may show reputation ratings next to the links in the search engine results. Thus, allowing the Internet user to determine whether to visit the link or not. The reputation data may be tracked on the domain name itself, URLs, domain name purchaser or registrant, or email addresses associated with the domain name. The reputation data may include various categories, such as email practices, website content, privacy policies and practices, fraudulent activities, domain name related complaints, overall reputation, etc.

Google Watch also reports that GoDaddy has applied for patents that would recommend domain names to searches performed on a computer network, as well as many other filings in VOIP, eMail and other stuff Google may find useful.

The Potential implications of Google buying GoDaddy may be vast. For Example Google could look into all the domains held by a particular user and not give any weight to the links in between them. Google is currently a Domain Registrar and it sells domain names through GoDaddy and ENOM..

Well No one really knows if Google has any plans to acquire GoDaddy but if it does it would mean a lot to Google.
