Flow – FTP and Editing in Harmony
![]()
Well who wants another FTP Application for the Mac OS X when there is the critically acclaimed Transmit. In case you are one of those and you want an alternative to Transmit, then you need FlowFTP.
Flow is a beautiful yet robust FTP, SFTP, WebDAV, .Mac and local client. Leveraging the power of today’s broadband connections with high-concurrency transfers, and evangelizing on stunningly low between-transfer latency, Flow is one of a kind. Flow also uses its powerful connection core to integrate a clever, intuitive, and refined web-editor, delivering delightful improvements over existing and new editing paradigms.
While Flow hasn’t been released as yet, it has some impressive features that stack up quite well to Transmit. Flow is currently in Private Beta and is expected to go public soon. Not to worry, dailyApps will keep you updated on this.

I Have included a Screencast of FlowFTP below, with some of its features highlighted :
- Automatic URL Copying
- Tabs & Concurrent Connections
- Flow edits too!
Have you ever uploaded a file, and needed to open it in your browser, or paste a link to someone? With Flow, you’ll never need to type your URLs again, because Flow can automatically determine the URL of uploaded files or folders, and even copy them to the clipboard after uploading.
Flow uses multiple concurrent connections to divide your transfers up, allowing it to perform them in a fraction of the time. And of course, you can connect to multiple servers at the same time with tabs or separate windows.
If you’ve ever written markup before, you know how important the link between your FTP client and editor is. With Flow, the link is so unified it’s literally one harmonious continuation of power — Flow edits too!
If you want to know more about Flow, you could also check out its features or you could read the interview of Brian Amerige the developer of Flow over at Glenn Wolsey’s blog.
